Description

The Crowden Music Center, a nonprofit organization, serves as a vital musical hub for the Bay Area with over 6,000 individuals attending classes, workshops, rehearsals, concerts, and other events each year.

Music education is available to the entire community through our two divisions: Crowden Center for Music in the Community (CCMC), offering lessons, classes, and camps for students of all ages, and The Crowden School, a unique day school for students in grades four through eight.

We combine music and education to nurture, develop, and inspire students of all ages, and to provide essential support to the musical life of the community.

Community Organizations

Crowden Music Center brings outstanding music classes into the community directly with our Outreach Programs. CCMC actively seeks to build long-term relationships with schools, churches, and community centers. Through these relationships, CCMC hopes to a) reach out to children for whom music education might not otherwise be available, and b) identify motivated young people who would benefit from further music instruction at Crowden, with support from our financial assistance program. Current outreach partners include Washington Elementary (Berkeley Public School District) and Resurrection Lutheran Church (Oakland).

Crowden is filled year-round with a wide variety of music education and performance activities. In addition to our own programs, we serve over 3,000 people each year by providing rehearsal and performance space for local music teachers and music organizations.
